2025 Club Champs Wrap Up
After two weeks of sunshine, rain delays, long rallies and great atmosphere, our Club Championships came to a brilliant close on Finals Day. With packed courtside crowds and over 150 members watching at different points in the day, the event showed off the very best of OC tennis — from our youngest juniors to our seasoned vets.

Women’s Singles: Virunee Viravong bt. Hannah Pulford 6-2,6-2
Men’s Singles: Dom Pearson came through a thrilling contest to be crowned new champion vs Tom Fenton
Women’s Doubles: Virunee & Amy S. bt Jane B. & Hannah P. 6-2, 1-6, 6-3
Men’s Doubles: Jo Weiland & Matt Whitehead beat Tom Fenton & Dom Pearson.
Mixed Doubles: Hannah P. & Joe T. bt Virunee & Alasdair B. 6-3, 6-7, 6-1
Women’s Vets Singles: Vicky Flind bt. Alyson Fox 6-1, 6-4
Men’s Vets Singles: Adam Burgis overcame Jonathan Pearson in a tough three-set battle.
Women’s Vets Doubles: Alyson Fox & Aruna Iyengar by Silvia Schubert & Judy Hammond 6-1 3-6 1-0 (10-5)
Men’s Vets Doubles: Hamid and Adam bt Jonathan and Bill 6-4 6-3
Vets Mixed Doubles: Alyson Fox & Hamid Irshad bt Aruna Iyengar & Adam Burgis 7-5 6-1
Junior Finals: Standout performances from Harry Au, Phoenix Bidder, Livia Odgers, Dominique Brooks, Marty Amarteifeo, Elliot Ofori and Noah Zhu, who all showed fantastic skill and spirit.

Tournament Organisation: A huge thank you to Alex Heath for steering the schedule through two busy weeks (ably supported by Graham), and to Virunee Viravong for keeping the social side of the tournament running so smoothly.
Final Clean-Up: Special mention to Alyson Fox and Hamid Irshad for rolling up their sleeves the next morning to clean the BBQ while the rest of us recovered!
Looking Ahead
This year’s championships were another reminder of what makes OC special — competitive tennis across all ages and abilities, combined with the community spirit that keeps the club thriving. A heartfelt thank you to all the players, spectators and volunteers who made it happen.
